about Alison

Alison comes from Boston, MA. She came to Vietnam to teach high school literature, that was over 13 years ago. She now lives with her husband and three children in Phu My Hung. Alison's passion for yoga was born from the need to find a new way to balance her life after the birth of her twin boys nearly six years ago. Having three children under two created stress in her life; her yoga practice became the medicine for that. She continued to deepen her practice and soon saw the need for a studio in Phu My Hung that provided a place, for all who joined, to cultivate a meaningful and mindful practice.

Alison reminds herself, through her own practice, that each day brings opportunities for personal growth. Yoga Joy Saigon is her desire to allow others to find these opportunities for themselves in a supportive and nurturing setting.

Her teaching style infuses mindful cues with gentle guidance and adjustments, whether it be a Hatha class or a power yoga class. As her commitment for teaching yoga grew she realized she wanted to combine her love of teaching children with the joy she got from practicing yoga. Thus she expanded her practice so that she could teach children's classes. These classes focus on fun, mindful, educational and healthy movements through a yoga-for kids of all ages.

heal your spine workshop

Thursday 5 September, 2019 from 5 - 7:30pm

Do you suffer from back pain? It may be discomfort or intense pain in your neck, shoulders or lower back. Whatever spine pain you suffer it is an extremely uncomfortable feeling. It can reduce your ability to move easily, to carry things, to sit or to stand for longer periods of time and sometimes the pain continues even while sleeping.

This workshop aims to educate participants in a deeper understanding of the metaphysical structure of the spine and the use of yoga and its energy to release the blocked flow in your spine.

During the workshop your facilitator Inti will help you:

  • Understand the spine's structure

  • Learn more about the spine and its spiritual path pattern

  • Uncover a psychological approach (feelings and emotions)

  • Share yoga pain relief exercises that are a tailored set of exercises that activate the spine energy. This will include tailored alignment and adjustments of each posture for you.

breath alchemy masterclass

Friday 6 September, 2019 from 5 - 7:30pm

Take yourself back to a time of stress where someone has told you to ‘just breathe’ - it was probably the last thing your overactive mind wanted to hear in the moment! But believe it or not, breathing is the key to calm everything down. Even more so if you are able to master your breath.

Breathing is a powerful tool to heal your physical body and to empty your mind from negative thoughts. The Breath Alchemy Masterclass is focussed on living in your breath, observing your energy force and mastering your own prana.

Over the course of the masterclass you will be guided through:

  • Understanding the breath and the purpose behind it

  • Discovering the link between breath and emotions

  • Practice A: observation of your own breathing process and defining its dysfunctions

  • Practice B: PRANA YOGA (a practical set of exercises to build your own prana)

  • Practice C: Breath Alchemy (breathing recipe for your own daily state)
